AI processing. When you use a free tool, the answers you enter are sent to our AI providers only to produce your result.
6. Who we share data with
We share personal data only where we need to:
Between mentees and mentors. When you book or accept a session, the other person sees your profile, the booking details and your messages.
Service providers who host and run Edufurther for us, under contracts that require them to protect your data and use it only on our instructions.
These are providers of website and app hosting, databases, AI processing, web search, analytics, email and payments, used across the Edufurther platform ecosystem. They act only on our instructions and may not use your data for their own purposes. Contact us for a current list.
Legal reasons. If the law requires it, to protect someone’s safety, or to enforce our Terms.
Business changes. If Edufurther is merged, acquired or reorganised, your data may transfer to the new owner under this policy.
Video sessions. Mentoring sessions take place on third-party video tools: Google Meet, or Daily, which is built into the Edufurther platform. We may add others, such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams. When a session runs on Daily, we log session details such as start time, duration and who attended, so we can track sessions. Each provider’s own privacy policy also applies to the call. We do not record sessions by default. A session is recorded only if everyone in it agrees.
Safety reviews. Messages between mentees and mentors are private. If a conversation or session is reported, our team may review the relevant messages and session details to investigate and keep the community safe.
We never sell your personal data.

8. How we protect your data
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls so only people who need data can see it, and providers with recognised security practices. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach puts your rights at risk, we will tell you and the relevant regulator as the law requires.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:
give you a copy of your data
correct data that is wrong
delete your data
restrict or object to how we use it, including for direct marketing
send your data to you or another service in a portable format
withdraw consent you gave, at any time, without affecting what we did before
Email privacy@edufurther.org to use any of these rights. We will reply within one month, and we may ask you to confirm your identity first. You can also delete your account from your settings.
If you are unhappy with how we handled your data, you can complain to your regulator:
Nigeria: the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC)
United Kingdom: the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)
European Union: the data protection authority in your country
United States: the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), or your state attorney general
Anywhere else: the data protection authority in your country, where one exists
We would appreciate the chance to fix it first, so please contact us.
